A Culture Rooted in Shared Values

At DigiWomen, our work is guided by core values that shape everything we do:

Inclusion

“We believe that technology should be accessible to everyone regardless of background. Our programs create spaces where all women feel welcomed, valued, and
empowered to contribute their unique
perspectives.”

Innovation

“By bringing diverse voices to the technology sector, we foster creative solutions to complex problems. We challenge the status quo and envision new possibilities for women’s leadership in digital spaces.”

Empowerment

“We are committed to providing women with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in digital careers. Every woman deserves the opportunity to fulfill her potential and shape the future of technology on her own terms.”

Our Story

DigiWomen emerged from a vision to address the persistent gender gap in technology. Founder Elsa Tannous, a specialist in human resources and technology, recognized that meaningful change required creating spaces where women could learn, connect, and excel in digital fields.

What began as a passionate initiative has evolved into a vibrant community of industry professionals, educators, and advocates united by a common purpose: making technology accessible to all women, regardless of background.

Our Community Voices

DigiWomen is built on the experiences and aspirations of our diverse community. Here are some voices from women whose lives have been transformed through our programs:

Career Changers

Women with established careers in other fields find the supportive community and practical skills training at DigiWomen give them the confidence to transition into tech. Many who thought switching to technology was impossible now thrive as developers, designers, and digital strategists.

Leadership Pathways

Participants discover that DigiWomen’s programs go beyond technical skills, offering valuable leadership and confidence-building components that prove essential for advancement into management roles within technology companies.

Youth Empowerment

Young women credit DigiWomen’s youth programs with opening their eyes to possibilities they never knew existed, showing creative thinkers that technology offers exciting and accessible career paths.

Professional Networks

The connections built through DigiWomen become professional lifelines that extend far beyond program completion, offering ongoing access to advice, opportunities, and supportive relationships throughout technological career journeys.

Digi

Practical Skill Development

Women appreciate DigiWomen’s focus on industry-relevant skills and real-world projects through strategic partnerships, providing tangible portfolio material that proves valuable during job interviews and career transitions.

Inclusive Learning Environment

Those from non-technical backgrounds find DigiWomen’s supportive, judgment-free environment makes learning accessible and engaging, building confidence alongside practical skills that serve diverse professional needs.

Representation and Role Modeling

Participants identify seeing themselves reflected in instructors and mentors as
one of DigiWomen’s most powerful aspects, enabling them to envision and
become technology
leaders who inspire future
generations.

Women

Our Mission

DigiWomen exists to reduce the underrepresentation of women in technology through three core pillars:

Education

Delivering immersive programs that demystify technology and build practical skills

Advocacy

Partnering with industry leaders to transform workplace culture and policies

Community

Creating supportive networks where women can find mentorship and inspiration

We believe diversity drives innovation. With women holding less than 25% of technology jobs and only 11% of management positions in Canada’s tech sector, our work addresses both an equity challenge and an innovation imperative.

Our Impact

Our initiatives directly confront critical statistics:

  • Nearly 50% of girls lose interest in STEM before age 15

  • Companies with diverse teams experience up to 35% better business performance

Through our targeted programs, we’re creating the next generation of digital leaders while helping businesses harness the power of inclusive innovation.

Our Commitment to Diversity

DigiWomen’s commitment to diversity extends beyond gender. We recognize that meaningful inclusion embraces the full spectrum of human experience across race, ethnicity, ability, age, and social background.

Our programs, leadership, and partnerships reflect this commitment to creating technology spaces where everyone can participate and contribute.

By supporting women in technology, we’re building a more innovative and sustainable future. Join us in making diversity a driver of change for present and future generations.
